A Brief Survey to the Dream land of Traditional Wedding dresses in Pakistan

                 Bridal dresses in Pakistan are the perfect example of their tradition and heritage. These dresses come in so many varieties of colors, styles, and designs.  These Styles include a Lehenga blouse, sharara shirt, gharara kameez, shalwar kameez, lehenga sarees, maxis dresses, and gowns. These are the most demanding choices for  Pakistani brides.

                 A wedding day in Pakistan is one of the most special occasions in a person's life. It is celebrated with full of energy and joy. The bridal dress is one of the most important parts of the wedding. Its vibrant color and beautiful craftsmanship represent the culture of the wedding day.


        Evaluation of Pakistani Bridal dresses from ancient times to the present. we see how these dresses change through time, their color, designs, embroidery, and trends and styles. after the subcontinent partition (1947 ), Pakistan and India have almost the same wedding culture. Gharara Kameez was the talk of the town at that time. All women wear ghararas on a daily basis it was inspired by the Fatimah Jinnah at that time. it became Pakistan's National dress.
Brides wear bright, vibrant colors of silk clothing with pure chandi ( silver ) work on it. The Kameez were plain and dupattas were full of chandi work.

        1950s. Over 10 years, there was no change. most of the dresses were handcrafted by beloved mother, nani, khala, and phupos 4 to 5 months before the wedding. 

        1960s. Women were stylish. fashion industry of Pakistan got advanced with the new designers named Maheen Khan, and Sughra Kazmi. Stylish dresses with bright colors of red, maroon, green, and blue were in fashion. and the clothing material was a combination of silk and tissue with heavy jewelry. The trend of three gold necklaces most likely says Maharani haar.

        In the 1970s, The trend was almost the same, but brides wear shalwar kameez on mehndi mayon functions in shades of yellow, and orange. however, clothing material was transformed from tissue to jamawar with net dupattas.

        In the 1980s, in that era, lehengas stole the limelight. full heavy flare lehngas of jamawar clothing with heavy dabka handwork paired with plain shits was in trend. the color trends were deep red, floral pink, and light pink shades.

        1990s. The first fashion show in Pakistan was organized in Karachi with many big designers. However, hiring a designer for the wedding was a trend of that era. charges of designers were high but they made beautiful wedding dresses.

        2000s. It was a brand new era of the fashion industry in Pakistan. inspired by Bollywood movies, ghagra, and Choli trends with vibrant color choices of red, peach pink, and tea pink shades. The trend of handmade dresses by beloved relatives was gone and designed dresses in markets were preferred. 

        2010s. the trend was totally changed, long shirts with shararas, lehngas, shararas, maxis, and pishwaz with lehngas. I must say this was my favorite trend. with beautiful shades of light and dark colors. now the 2020s is a combination of all the trends. Now the white color is made the symbol of the nikkah function. Bright red shades with gold for Barat and light shades are for Walima function.
